So, after many years of swearing to myself that I'd never go back to school after I rec'd my Bachelors, I started school again yesterday for my Masters in Biomechanics, with an emphasis in Strength & Conditioning. It's a new program at UNLV, so, hopefully I'll be helping make some new trails for the school. But the coolest thing so far is that my first class is being taught my Mark Philippi, former America's Strongest Man and competitor in the WSM.
Pretty sick.....

That is awesome. Let Mark Philippi know that everyone at FreeTrainers says Hi. Tell him to log on and share some of his knowledge.....

Thanks, guys. And, Ron, it's gonna take me a loooong time to even catch up with you!
Today's class was great, and I think it really set up the tone for the rest of the semester, when Mark compared bodybuilders, powerlifters, and olympic lifters (basically in regards to fibers): Bodybuilders look like Tarzan, but lift like Jane (present company excluded here on FTs... ) But then he mentioned that when he trains athletes, he keeps an "I give a $hit" meter on his watch: "Coach - my legs are tired! Well, let me check my meter..."
Love it......

Here's an update for this semester:
1. Taking graduate level Exercise Physiology
2. Mark is teaching another class: theories and methods of S & C. We study and research multiple major concepts, such as Boyle and Poloquin, for example, and then start developing one of our own. Everything from screening to periodization. I'm developing quite the 3-ring binder of info - LOL... pretty cool stuff.
3. Spoke to one of the other professors today who will be sitting on my Masters committee. Should have that up and running and be at full speed by this Fall semester (fingers crossed!).
