How important are carbs.. being back to college I have this stupid limited budge dining plan and I drew up an idea of what I could eat for the week... just a lot of chicken (some breaded chicken pattie.. ick.. supposedly has more protien then the grilled chicken tho?), milk, and a some pasta at the end of the day.... I start out eating oatmeal in the morning but from the totals below which I drew up in an excel spreadsheet you can see I still come out just slightly under the calorie requirements for my goals and way under for carbs... on the last line anything in (parentheses) means that i'm under.. any other number means i'm over...
Food Fat Carbs Protien Calories Total 60 246 168 2332 Goal 48 371 133 2377 Over 12.00 (125.00) 35.00 (45.00)

Oh and I heard before about needed them to help get a good workout in the gym and so on.. but I thought I pretty much had that covered in the morning with a cup of oatmeal with 2 cups of milk and a banana... so being 125 short overall... hows that hurting me?

Have you considered shopping for meat in the frozen foods section? You can get bulk frozen chicken breasts a *lot* cheaper than fresh. And might be a bit healthier (and tastier) than the breaded patties in the long run. That may help stretch your $$ budgeted for protein ...
You could try adding fruit, or juice to make up the deficit in carbs (just a suggestion). I'd listen to your body, then make the necessary adjustments from there. Only you can say what will or won't work for you!

Well you could always do what I did in college maybe get a job at one of the dining halls? LOL I got all the food I could eat working there....able to pick and choose what I wanted...

Whoa I wouldn't get a job in the dining halls that I always thought had to be one of the worst jobs ever.. anyway since I had a cool job over the summer where I didn't really have to talk to many people I think i'll be avoiding any jobs in the future where I have to meet way too many people of the public in general... anyway... I could get some meat and storing it in this crappy mini fridge would be easy.. just cooking it would be a problem since all I have here is a microwave and I think were not allowed to have portable cooking devices like george foreman grills and stuff in our room... maybe I should consider an apt next year...

The goals you outlined are they your own or ft suggested. All but your protein seem a little high to me. As far as meal prep find a friend that has an appt. cook your weeks meals at once put them in your fridge heat them in micro wave when wanted, I agree with Mutt for the job thing I worked at the dining hall it was one of the best jobs I had made tones of friends. And ate well. Good luck

their ft suggested.. all the other ft programs seem to work out for me so I thought I might as well give their nutrition amounts a shot.. i'll probably give some of those ideas a try.. except working in the dining hall.. i'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to stand it...

I know i did not like the public there either but I had a job where I did not interact with them, (I washed pots and pans) I now consider it the best job I have ever had. Might want to take a look at it LOl you never know.

A good sound calorie dense carb that is completely "useable" you could add would be brown rice. Not white rice. That should fill in your deficit nicely.
