hi people. im 6 foot and about 130-134 pounds. ive started goin to the gym but i really need help with my diet. not just how much but what do i eat. mc donalds all day aint gonna help i know so what should i eat? should i calculate everything i have? whats good and whats bad, i dont know. my training is pretty hard going with machines and free weights so i need to know whats best.

Get started with the ft nutrition resources. Input your stats & goals and you will get a suggested daly intake amount for your carb, proteins, fats. Have you signed up for an ft workout?. Fill in your profile so we can get to know you a little.

Training is the catalyst to start the building process, so you are on the right track there. Diet is the fuel that gets you there. If you are trying to gain, try lots of good complex carbs in your diet along with at least one gram of protein per lb. of bodyweight to nourish those new growths. Some good effective carbs are peanut butter, whole grain breads, brown rice, potatoes, and lots of fibrous carbs like green vegetables. Your weight gain will not come next week, but it will come. I find it takes about 2 to 3 weeks for my body to adjust to a new diet, whether it be gaining or dieting. Best of luck. All things take time.

ive updated my profile so you can get to know a bit more about me and what im trying to do. my trainings going good but its my diet i cant sort out. i dont know whats good or bad, what i need and what i dont??? i dunno mate. what sort of meals should i be making?

If you have trouble gaining weight, I would not worry that much about what you eat. What you do need to do is eat a lot, and try to eat from lean meats (tuna, chicken steak) and carbs like rice and yams and fruit and veges...all you can eat...try that for a while and see what works and what does not. so it doesnt matter so much what i eat but to eat lots? ive been a bit worried about what ive been eating. eating low fat stuff and food like that. i do have trouble keeping weight on and it just seems to go on my middle. mac d's here i come.

Yeah i had the same question. If I am out with my friends and it is like 1 in the morning, would it be better to eat something bad like pizza and fries than to not eat at all???

eat lots of protein and weightlift about 3 times a week focusing on high weight and low reps;)

lewdog Pizza is not that bad go for vegies, and a little meat. The meat used on pizza is not the greatest, fries I would stay away from most places use the cheapes oil they can get in large quantities. Fries done in the oven arent bad at all and much better for you. Eating I think is the key some times you dont alway have what you need with you do the best you can with what you got avialable at 1 am that is not always much.

well if you want to build mass you have to realize taht you ARE going to be gaining some fat

Well, it does matter what you eat. You of course want to gain, but loads of pizza and burgers is not the way to go to gain lean mass. Now, if you just want to see the scale go up, this will do it. If you want something more,like lean muscle mass, then you should try to eat good healthy complex carbs along with lots of good quality protein, at least 1 gram per lb. of bodyweight. Now, don't get me wrong, the occasional pizza will not hurt you, but try to concentrate on a cleaner diet. One day you will want to she bodyfat, and find it maybe wasn't worth all the pizza. Just my opinion. I was also on an allout gain diet, little and skinny, and consumed everything in my path not knowing any better. Then one day I decided I would like to go to the next level and compete, and when I dieted down, guess, what, I was just skinny again. Almost all the "mass" I thought I gained came off. In other words, 90% of it was fat! Just a lesson I learned.
