I'm taking 50mg time release. Suggestions? I've been too cheap to get my T checked.

how old are you? DHEA was shown in studies to only be effective for people who are older and have low T levels to begin with.

This is correct. In fact, in younger folks DHEA can convert to estrogen easier than test in a male. Depends on what hormone is most prominent. (DHEA is but a precursor of both). In fact, just to emphasize the point, many women who are menopausal use it to help with hot flashes, etc.

I'm 36, which my profile states. Is it too early?

id say you dont need it. keep the focus on the basics, whey, creatine, sleep, a good multivitamin, and a high protein diet.
http://jap.physiology.org/cgi/content/abstract/87/6/2274 check out that article there and decide for yourself. shows that it doesnt effect test levels, but there were lbm increases in the ones who took it (but also the ones who took placebo, so i say use positive affirmations for your muscles to grow and walah, instant growth! |

I do agree on the basics part. If there isn't enough T, will the basics maintain or increase mass?
The study seems to refer to young men which I am definitely not. "In 10 young men (23 ± 4 yr old), ...." "An additional 19 men (23 ± 1 yr old) ...." Are there any studies that refer to the older folks? And my question still remains, what dosage? |

Thanks fo the kindness elantraa. Its the warmth of the kindness that is so endearing to me.
This is off the topic of the post but someone with alot of knowledge posted that glutamine isn't worth the money. Out of the goodness of my heart, I have posted a link to it for you elantraa so you won't waste your money. http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=13&t_ix=2775 http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=13&t_ix=2887 Please don't take my criticism of the article personally. I realize that you were trying to help answer my question. I was only pointing out that the information you supplied referred to a different age group than I am in. You are right that I was lazy, but if I searched everything on the web there would be little reason to come to this site. |

No more the 50 mgs a day. In women DHEA converts into Testosterone and in men if you do too much it will raise E's.

Yes, it definitely will help with body composition. More is not better though, and will lead to major sides. DHEA should only be done by women experiencing PMS symptoms, and then weaned to the correct doseage.-------------- Maximus from Gladiator....Strength and Honor! |
