Just wondering, do you guys take your protein drinks shaken or stirred? I started off stirring, but I've found I can get them to mix MUCH better if shaken. That mixed with some dextrose, and they actually taste good now as opposed to gut-wrenching gross.

I keep a shaker bottle at work and at home at all times. The only way to go.

What is your source of dextrose?

I always shake my shakes. I have about six shaker cups with oz marks on the sides and only one lid. Apparently my hb has been throwing away the lids to my shaker cups thinking they were old caps to, who knows, sour cream containers or something. So when I can't hunt up that one lid or don't feel like digging it out from under all the other dirty dishes and washing it, I sort of whisk the shake with a fork. It's not the same, though. :(

The shaker works best! The ones with the lines for measuring are really helpful

I throw stuff in the blender, especially when I'm making my weight gainer shake (with cottage cheese and peanut butter). Otherwise I always use a shaker. I have two that I got for free with supplement orders at netrition.com (they're made by Ultimate Shaker). They're very well designed and easy to use and clean.

I buy it in a 1kg bag from a health food store. You should also be able to find it at some grocery stores. I paid $3.50 Canadian for the bag. The way I see it is that a lot of supplement companies charge you a lot of money when you buy weight gainers or "transport systems", and all you're paying for is sugar. It's much cheaper to just buy the sugar yourself and add some protein.

Maltodextrin is equally useful as dextrose. I don't need to tell you guys this, but you obviously want to keep that stuff to a minimum except for post-training. Both dextrose and malto are pure sugars and are way more dense and high glycemic than table sugar.

Yep I know that mackfactor. I keep the dextrose to a minimum when taking non post-workout shakes. I just put a bit in to sweeten it up. I don't gain weight very easily so I think I'm safe, and my carbs are always way below what FT says they should be....
