My ft calorie count says I should have like 3800 calories. I am a woman who weighs 292 and wanting to lose weight. How can this calorie count be right?? I don't understand how I need to eat so many calories. Can someone please help me understand this. It seems to me I would gain weight.

Does seem a little high. I think the general rule of thumb is 10cal per lb for weight loss. That would come out to about 2900, which is quite a bit less. :)

Personally I think 2900 is way to higher for you, I'm a 37 year old man only eating 2460 and I'm not gaining a pound but lost 55 pounds in a year! I had to eat less the 2460 a day to lose the weight too!
At your weight your not going to find any formula or calculator to give you your calories needs, they seem to only work for people that are generally already at or near their lean body weight and to tell you the truth I don't know how well they work for a lot of people once they do get there because I'm eating 2460 and this is supposed to be a weight lose intake count according to the most thought out formula I have found but I haven't lost 1 pound in months so this indicates I'm eating at my Maintenance Level where I'll not gain or lose weight!

Very true MVP. There is no specific calculation that works for everyone. Age,activity level, medical issues...they all come into play when trying to figure out caloric intake. I was just trying to give her a general idea of a basic formula, and show that for sure the 3800 would be waaaayy to high. Thanks for pointing out what I forgot to mention though. I would never want to tell someone something wrong.
