Or not? It seems like everytime I start a new diet my fiance starts bringing the candies and cakes..etc out of the woodwork. I ask her politely to keep them somewhat hidden not just on counter to remove temptation. In return she says that everyone should have a cheat day (she says this 7 days a week though). I honestly am starting to wonder if she is trying to keep me overweight for some reason. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Saboutage is not uncommon. It's sometimes from those not ready to make the same lifestyle change as you. -------------- I am training for birthdays. Be here. Live. Love. Hope. Now. Faith. Believe. Yep, she may feel threatened by your self-improvement. maybe she is unsure of how your weight loss/improvement will effect your relationship.
My husband used to worry that I would get really fit and leave him for a bodybuilder or trainer. I told him I loved him and that as long as he got healthy with me so that we had a healthy future together, he could stay. (I am just kidding. I told him I loved him and wasn't going to be a different person just because i became fit and muscular. But he did eventually join me in my eating and working out because it was a way to be together and he could see how good it was making me feel to lose weight). We still have occasional bouts of insecurity, who doesn't, but he no longer tries to sabotage me. You could also look at it as one of those ultimate tests orf temptation - the fitness gods want to see how strong you are! The fat devil wants to place temptation in your path. RUN to the gym and work off that evil!!!!!:surprised: -------------- I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor. -Henry David Thoreau |

I have an idea of what you could do...but it's not very nice...throw it in the trash..you asked nicely...that didn't work.I know it seems harsh...sometimes people need a wake up call though.Thats what I would do...but my husband would expect it..so it wouldn't be to dramatic in my house.Either way...good luck gecko!!:)

I almost threw the cookies in the trash last night. I got home after going to college then hitting the gym. So after being used to eating every 3-4 hours a nice 5 hour caused me to become hungry. Yep it was like clockwork...there on the table in plain few are freshly baked cookies. Now mind you anytime that I am not actually trying to loose weight baking tools are foreign objects. YOu would think that your spouse would want you to get in shape and feel better about themselves, but I think she must have some nervous worry that I will leave her or something. When she met me though I was 6'1 and 220 with pretty solid muscle structure. And that is what I want to get back down too even if I have to fight her cooking as well.

My bf is weary that i too will leave him for some buff studd, and I keep reminding him that I love him..etc..etc, but he just doesn't understand why I would want to do a show, he has this notion that female bodybuilders get huge, I try to school him but ya can't teach old dogs new tricks...

"love him..etc..etc"
You could make it more convincing then that. Gecko...This is pretty common at first. It's simply a insecurity of hers that she'll have to deal with. I took the sabotage and snide remarks and used them as motivation. Nothing tastier then a big tall glass of "told ya I'd do it"....then when they chase you with a bat or rolling pin you'll be able to outrun them. |
