Why do powerlifters eat a lot of chocolate?

I would think because it is high in calories. Remember most of the pros in the sport eat 10K in calories a day

When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant and which know me not, I am frightened and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. Who has put me here? By whose order and direction have this place and time been allotted to me? The eternal silence of these infinite spaces frightens me.

Chocolate alone will add about 50lbs. to your deadlift.

no wonder many people have preconceptions about powerlifters....well if some powerlifters eat chocolate and other crap....no wonder...

Some small benefits are healthy compounds in small quantities for the heart....only in brands with high cocoa content....which is not something you'll find with most chocolates and chocolate bars.....the other is small caffeine content which may improve concentration, energy levels, endurance, etc....however you'd really have to eat a lot..
