Ok BB1 here it is I am 365 6'1" way overweight and trying to build my mass while dropping the fat you said to up my calories but I was scared I won't drop the fat if I up my calories, I have made it a point to eat plenty of protien. But my question is do I really have to consume that much to bulk up I mean I am primarily working on upper body because with me being so big my legs are already big? I mean in order to lose weight its intake vs output right? I hope you can help me I am confused now about how much to eat I have tried to stay on healthy food but I am afriad if I up my calories it will lead to overeating

I simply replied to a post asking how to gain mass. You cannot do this being 'overweight' the way you are. You are correct, you will not drop the fat if you up your calories. You have to choose. In my opinion, your objective is to get healthy. This means dropping the fat. Forget about building mass, yo will be building some muscle anyway, as your predominant fuel will be fat. So when you get leaner, you will look better. Don't try to be something you cannot be at this point. Hope you understand this, but calories are the bottom line in any undertaking.

thanks thats what I was trying to figure out I was corn-fused lol:laugh: So I should be ok on a light diet low cals ? like primarily salads with protien like tuna or chicken breast? because I know I still need some protien in my diet right? and if not just the low cal salad thing should do it right?

Jason - Your inserting meaning into Ron's post that isn't there. You not only need some protein in your diet, you need a lot of protein in your diet. Low calorie salads with "some" protein isn't going to cut it and if anything, you'll put on more fat. His comment "This means dropping the fat" is about , you dropping body fat, not completely dropping fat out of your diet.

Even though you are wanting to lose some major weight, don't let your calories dip too low, or your body will kick into starvation mode. Salads are good, but make sure you continue to have protien with them. And you don't have to stick with just salads either. A chicken breast with some cooked veggies and brown rice is just as nice as a salad. :)
