Honestly im new here and im realizing me eating isnt exactly the best but i've been trying. My problem is what the hell is the truth about this whole eating deal!!! Are you really supposed to be eating 4-5 meals a day? How are you supposed to do that and what should these meals include? Protein, carb, dairy, fat, veg? like how are you supposed to incorporate all this stuff into your meal plan? Another thing how do you know if your getting the correct amount of things you need? like protein? I feel like im eating the same boring meals all the time cause im scared to try anything else incase i throw myself off!! when your making something like chilli how are you supposed to know the intake value of each component!! Im really having trouble with my eating and its making things harder because i loose weight for about a week like i lose a lot then i pretty much gain it all back!! I need help lol

The post I'm linking below will explain most of your questions then we can see what's left. You don't want 4-6 meals in the traditional massive plate full of food. The whole idea is to get something into your system every 3 hours or so. Have you checked out the stickies in the diet forum? There's several lists of recommended foods. If you make it too hard you won't stick with it so try to browse some of the forums and educate yourself and then you can get more help. I know women don't normally like to post their weight but it's helpful here if you put some of your stats in your profile. People really do read those things before they try to answer your questions.

uhhh whenever i look up certain information on dieting i get clouded with about a million different views and ideas. i just dont understand how someone can know what foods supply them with what they need. What are your meals supposed to consist of though if your eating every 3 hours! like are those meal sub bar things good for a quick snack? people tell me some negative things about doing that though, but who am i supposed to believe lol

Forget about processed foods (products that come in boxes or cans)as they are not healthy. Eat 4-5 times a day could be 3 meals 2 snacks, call them what you want, but look at what your eating. Like the others said, Include Protein, Complex carbs and good fats. Don't get caught up on the scale every week. Id say go with 1750 calories a day with good training program from here on FT and you should start to see sustainable results within 6-8 days. Good luck.
-------------- A little discipline at the table and at the gym might help reduce that belly!

Have a looke at the grocery list for healthy eating in the diet and nutrition forum, it is thumbtacked near the top. This list breaks down healthy foods to eat into lean protien, healthy carbs and healthy fats. You can't go wrong eating the items on this list. A typical days meal might look like this:
7am:Breakfast: eggs + salsa + piece whole wheat toast (Protien+carb+healthy fat(olive oil to cook egg))
10:30am Snack 1: whey protien shake or handful of almonds or light yogurt
12:30pm: lunch: chicken breast + brown rice + veggies
3pm snack 2: celery with natural peanut butter
6pm dinner: lean beef stirfry with veggies and rice
9pm snack 3: cottage cheese + berries
You have to adjust how much you eat at each meal depending on your needs. I need about 1800cals per day, so the above would work for me (I work out every day) In order to get enough protien (if your workout regime justifies it) you may find it convenient to use a protein suppliment in the form of a shake. Eating like this is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. I have a family, work full time and workout 6 days/week and I manage to eat this way without any problems.
Hope this helps and welcome to FT!

Sounds like an excuse to me.
Keep reading, keep learning - when you find the same information coming up again and again, it usually can be trusted. 5-6 small meals, lean protein, complex carbs, good fats. Not that hard to understand.
