Hey i just signed up for the gym. and am starting the muscle mass and 12 week ab workout. I look pretty skinny for being 5'11 163. but i am unhappy with the fat around my gut love handles and sides. and maybe my legs too but they are also skinny. everywhere else i can barley pinch the skin. so what should i be doing when i go do the weight training.. run for 20 min? 30 min? what machines should i use and so on. thank you
jrob - start with just the workout with weights that the mass and ab program gives you. See how your body responds. It sounds like you are probably an ectomorph, so you may find your fat comes off easily just with the right weight routine and a cleaner diet. Check the nutrition forum for the grocery list for healthy eating and make your food choices from it, eating 6 meals a day that have good carbs, lean protein and good fat.
If you want more muscle, I would skip the running for now.
