Don’t laugh... I snack often, before bad mainly, on Cape Cod potato chips 40% reduced fat.
Are they really really that bad? They test like potato, unlike others, and they seem to be an ‘all natural product'.
Any comment?
Thank you

I was as the GNC show of strength a few weeks ago and one of my free samples was a bag of protein cheetos. I don't have the bag anymore and I don't think they are really out on the market yet but they were fabulous. Maybe the day of crunchy protein snacks that are healthy and tasty is closer than we think.

Actually , I don't like regular potatoe chips anymore, the oils in and on them are amazing.
I got used to baked lays, have about a small bag 1x a month.
Low in fat and sodium.

My opinion? BAD! It's processed food, get some real potatoes and eat them! Ten times better for you!

Alrighty, where should I start . . . ?
I went to the companies web site, but I couldn't find any ingredient listing. The main problem with potatoe chips is that they're fried in hydrogenated fatty acids - trans fats - which are worse than saturated fats when it comes to artery blockage and heart disease. Trans fats should be avoided whenever possible. Check the ingredients label - if the word hydrogenated is anywhere in there, they've got them.
Also, potatoes are very high on the glycemic index even whole. Take that and process it and you've got a sugar rush in a bag. The fat in the chips blunt that a bit (although not as much in baked chips), but they're still vicious. I've heard some folks, like John Berardi, rank potato chips and french fries up there with cigarettes in terms of toxicity. He, of course, was exaggerating, but you get the point.
