yea a bench does seem more appropriate, how much weight should i be looking to buy?

depends on what you can lift now and what your goals are if it is just to tone and burn some fat sure any home gym is a good buy, but If your goal in the future is to bulk up add muscle mass beyond losing weight I would go with free weights...thats what I did if you learn and study the exercises (which FT gives you a great guide) I believe it is more effective and less restricted in your training

how much can u lift then go from there!.....like if you can work out with 100 lbs or less get that for now most you can get for like $38 us but if you want/need more olympics go for about $150 us for olympic weights i think i saw one for $200 for a 300# set (did not include olympic bar)
