Hi all,
I am new to this. But I have been working out since march, not consistently but I am trying to get better. I started at 188 now curently 170 minus 3 inches. Spent a ton of money on gym membership and a trainer for only 5 weeks (trainer) Love the gym but the trainer was helpful but 5 weeks is not enough. Diet for me is so hard I am a sweet freak Have cut most out. Have a slight binging every so often Pop was also a major enemy but I just quit buying about once every 2 weeks I have one. As far as dieting I just try to watch how much I eat But I LOVE LOVE LOVE food. So that is hard. I am not very good at counting calories. I tried to write everything down but I quit doing that.
Any ways here I am and I am trying much harder.

Hi Frnchfry!! I'm new too! I did the food diary thing for a while and really helps!! You have to remember to write down that ONE cookie or the handful of chips though. If you are like me (a complete and total food addict) you will be absolutely shocked at how much you eat in one day. I did it for a week and then guilt took over, so I quit. Yikes, huh? Anyway, I'm hoping to get back on track as well. Good luck!!

Thanks, and good luck to you too. It is so easy to gain and so hard to lose the weight. I am amazed at all the information that is available thought.

Watch the Supersize Me video for motivation. I watched it once and my life has never been the same. I dont weigh very often as my goal is getting healthy and the weight loss is a byproduct. I have lost 50 lbs over the past couple of years and not without blowing it badly on more that one occasion. It is not about how many times you fall down but how you pick yourself up and start over. If you keep starting over eventually you will make a life change which is the real key to successfully reaching your healthy goals. Good Luck and you definately came to the right place. There are many, many great resources and people who want to help you succeed.

AH HA I figured IT OUT!!! YOU HAVE NO BARRIERS! Get all that unhealthy food at the house then you will actually have to do something to break your diet

I read once that a craving only lasts about 15 minutes. Next time you get one, drink a biiiiig glass of water and maybe entertain yourself for a few minutes. Walk around the back garden or down the road and back. If you STILL want the cookie after 15 minutes and some walking and water, I say have it!! But make sure to do the water and walking thing first!

I know i've heard about the 15 min thing i tried to hold out but I am at work and it is so hard. I have to say I didn't put up much of a fight. They are just there. It really isn't till after I eat it that I feel like crap. Thanks for the advice I love this place it is so positive.

Stand in front of the mirror naked while eating that cookie or other treats and you may change your mind. Unless of course you are completely happy with how you look! I have never tried it but I hear it works for some folks.

It is not a bad thing to fall prey to cravings every now and then. In fact, just beginning you will more than likely burn yourself out if you try to give up too many 'comfort foods' at one time. This is a lifestyle change, take it slow and easy. Progress will lead to more progress. Don't get down on yourself. As long as your mindset is to do this thing, you will.

Thanks for that BB I must admit the cravings have gotten better. I used to get them everyday 3 or 4 times a day. it seems like they come once or twice a week now To me chocolate is a drug. I know I can do this. I know in moderation it is not that bad. Sometimes I feel guilty after I eat it though like a bad kid sneaking to the cookie jar. thanks for all the positive.
