There are a lot of good cardio posts here, but I would like to hear some thoughts on roughly how long as in weeks, days, years, ect untill one would be considered fit from a cardio perspective if they have lead a sedintary life but are now doing cardio 5 days a week and plan on continueing to do so. Thanks in Advance!

Research I have seen and will have to pull up(I know I have it) is a minimum of 3 days per week for adaptations(endurance enhancements) to take place.

The benefits are immediate as long as there is a minimum like bb1 said of 3x a week. Once you start doing the cardio, immediatley you are taking in more oxygen and exhaling more toxins. Also your  will be pumping more volume per beat. Thus the improvements are instant. Over all after 6 months one should be feeling realy good.

Great! I could i guess scale my cardio back a little once I reach what would be considered healthy but I would like to maintain my current 5 day a week program untill then. The problem is I have no Idea other than how I feel as to where that point is. I see what appears to be fittness tests on some of the cardio equipment. That may give me some idea of where I stand and give me a gauge to measure improvements by. My goal really is purely getting healthy and staying that way for the second half of my life. I appreciate your responding. I was actually hoping to hear from you specificaly. What I know about cardio I have learned from reading posts and value your input on the subject. Again Thanks !

The fitness tests on the machines are good because they will put you through a program that you are not use to. Use the results only as a guide.
