Grab one of the FT programs from this site. You will not "bulk up" doing wts, so don't be afraid to lift! There are a couple of great articles in the womens forum about women lifting wts--they're thumbtacked near the top. It's always best to focus your wt routine around compound exercises like presses, squats, lunges, rows, pull ups, pull downs etc. As far as your question about legs in particular, then lunges, squats and dead lifts would be my recommendations, but you shouldn't neglect your upper body as well.

Welcome to FT and good luck with your goals!

I really wish i could hunt down the persons that started that myth of women getting bulky by lifting weights. Hell most guys do not get bulky. I gain mass easier than most and it still takes me a YEAR to add just one inch to my arms....it took my 4-5 years to add 40lbs of mass on......a woman training normally (without taking growth inducing drugs) simply can not get bulky like you are worrying about. Look at fly's pics....she lifts harder than most men and she is not a she hulk! LOL get lifting weights.....not only will you look better fast but also longer.......Women as they age lose bone density and often have problems later with mobility....now is the time to figght that trend. My mom lifts weights and is 62 moves like she is 40!

yeah, jaytori, I wish you would go in the women's forum and give some more of that advice. NOT.

You will not 'tone up' by doing lots of little weights and reps.

Go in the women's forum and read 'Ladies - please print and read' post - lots of good info.

Lift weight that is challenging , change your diet and give it time and consistency.

Jay, don't make me get mean. I'm not a nice person by nature. I've inhaled too much ammonia and chalk to care for niceties. But do yourself a favor, and if you're going to post again, try asking questions, because you've already discounted any advice you may ever give.

I still want to know WFT is TONED-UP!

Sorry Jay but too tone sounds kinda queer eyed LOL, just messing with you.

I came to these boards a few years ago just to get my head served up my ass by shootting out and no results to show for it yet! I left and let myself go even further into fatness and then after a year of self gyming it I returned to apply what was to be learned and goten great results in minimal time.

I still shoot out the side of my neck at time but the difference now is when I do I admit to myself I was wrong and have been corrected because before I faught at the drop of a hat and sank further into fatness!

Now I don't care if I say something and get corrected because it's how we learn and I now have prove results that work and continue to work!

Most people are like me, show me it works. It;s no different in my other sport Bowling, I didn't get to a Proffessional Level by listening to the handicaped bowls telling me how to get it done, I went up against the guys that make ESPN Shows to get where I'm at.

That's weird, because it's usually the ones that quickly put me into my place that I become closest to.

Ian King used to say that you are the average of the 5 people you hang out with most. So, rather than taking corrections wrongly, I like to make mental notes that these are the type of people I want to be around.
