Anyone in Rochester area...

wrestler125 Posts: 4,619 Joined: 2004/01/27	2006/12/19, 10:23 AM RIT Weightlifting will be hosting a full USAPL sanctioned powerlifting meet sometime in March. It is open to the general public, and I will have more details as they become available (I'm not in charge of this one). As a fundraiser, we will be doing a fire truck pull April 15th. I will be looking for sponsors, and for anyone in the area, this would be a great event to watch. It is an individual pull, with the truck weighing somewhere just over 20,000lbs. May 12, 2007, Rochester's Strongest Man will be held in the gordon field house. Events: Keg relay farmers walk thick bar clean and press tire flip sandbag crucifix hold Open to the general public, all that is required is an NAS membership which will be sold on site. It will be an NAS Sanctioned meet and will be exciting for anyone who wants to spectate or participate. ~Steve Captain, RIT Weightlifting -------------- Iron and chalk.

Just looked at your profile and realized your pics are from the RIT weight room...and another pic that looks like my friend Chris' uncle's basement. (Although I'm sure it's probably not.) Small world isn't it? I've probably met you a few times too. Did you work there? You probably remember me and Chris dead lifting as we were some of the only people who put serious weight on. (I don't know why people there use the rubber olympic weights for deads?) Still playing Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer in the weight room or was that just a phase? That was horrible and certainly ruined a few of my workouts! Good luck to you guys on the pull!

The pictures in my profile are the RIT Gym, the 2006 STAII competition in New Haven, 2006 USAPL Nationals in Philly, and the basement of Brian Laudidio (a national ranked powerlifter) -------------- Iron and chalk.
doggiecool Posts: 43 Joined: 2002/08/07	2006/12/19, 02:35 PM Yeah well of course not, you can only get to 415 with the olympic weights. I think you may have spotted for me once or twice. Can't really tell because the pics on here are so tiny that I cant even see your face! I used to do the horrible chest workout where I would put on my 8 rep weight and bench 7 sets of 8, then 5 sets of the same on incline and decline, then flys. (IDK, all the guys who worked there spotted me for it at some point and all thought I was crazy...but I got good results from it.) Thought Jarad was in charge of RIT weight lifting? Or did he graduate? Carlos still there?

I'm no longer training with him because he has a sporadic scedule, but he's still around from time to time. Carlos moved down south after his wife finished her grad studies. Also, anyone work for or know of any companies that would be interested in sponsoring a meet? If they want to support more we can make them our title sponsor. KC, I STILL don't have an entry form yet. It's not making me happy, so it's time to start getting on peoples cases. I wouldn't mind popping down just to check it out- and it would be pretty cool to meet a few of the folks from FT, wonder if I'd actually recognize anyone:)...I'd be the one with the nametag that reads "Fly" hehe... I've put it into my Outlook Calendar, so we'll see. It's only about a 2.5 hr drive for me to get there.

The state chair for USAPL wanted it moved, as well as our meet director (my co-captain). Also, it will now be a push-pull meet, as a full meet requires 3 times as many referees, and twice the drug testing. -------------- Gravity hates you. Enter the Darkside.
