I am curious to hear some feedback on slim-fast. I am afraid to say it, but I have used this product with success. It has been an easy (lazy?) way for me to regulate my caloric intake. Any thoughts?

Well, long ago in a land far away I will admit I used it too. Now, I am not saying this to condone it's use. I used it before I ever knew any better. In essence, any diet will work for you I believe if all you want to do is lose weight or stay the same. But if you are into gaining lean mass(muscle), burning fat, and improving the qulaity of your physique, ditch the slim fast in favor of a muscle building higher protein diet. Don't know if this is what you want to hear, but the truth.

Just compare the number's on slim fast and any good mrp. That says it all.

About what I expected to hear. The stuff is cheap, about $5 a six-pack at Walmart. And it has helped me lose almost all my target weight. The problem is, I don't REALLY look any better, though there are some definition changes. Maybe it is time to move on.

I think you just answered your own question. Best to you. I think you will see great results from as you say, moving on.

Slim Fast, The sugar alone in it has to be bad for anyone. Ultra-Slim Fast, Protein, 10 grams, carbs 40 grams, sugar 35 grams. Now for some good numbers to decide by. Myoplex, 43 grams protein, 20 grams of carbs, 2 grams of sugar. Just one example. Read the labels and decide. Best of luck to you.

I will have to, as you say, read the labels. For instance, what about the other nutrients, vitamins, etc.? Where can I check into "Myoplex"? Also, what is "mrp" refered to in "caravan's" reply?

Mrp is meal replacement. You can check the labels of myoplex and others at upper49th.com or eas.com. I am in no way connected. Just for info.

Slim Fast might as well be a soft drink with all that sugar. But considering that a single shake has roughly 225 calories and the plan tells you to have a shake for breakfast and lunch and then eat a 'sensible' dinner, chances are those on it consume only 1400 calories a day. This is basically the equivalent of the fabled (and utterly ridiculous) Subway 'diet.' It uses extreme calorie restriction which is both marginally ineffective and unhealthy. Yes, you will lose weight, but much of it will be muscle and you will soon hit a plateau, which will likely be above your ideal weight. Extreme calorie restriction is a poor weight loss method and the theory is carried over using 1980's science. In addition you'll almost certainly be well short on protein, as a Slim Fast shake provides only a small amount of loew quality protein. So, if you're looking for a snack, you might as well have a cookie and some milk, you'll end up with the same results. If you're looking for a diet plan, skip the Slim Fast.
