I feel lighter. Maybe I lost some weight. All that dilly dallying.

Use chalk. It helps your grip but may not be 'accepted' in most gyms. May not prevent caluses, though.

Caluses are just something to get used to. I only use gloves when doing skullcrushers because the knurls on the bar rip the crap out of my palms. I personally use Harbinger gloves and have had the same pair since 1995 (that's how little I use 'em).

Most any sports department will have a couple of selections of pretty good weight lifting gloves. :dumbbell:

What is wrong with wearing gloves to keep from getting caluses? Do gloves really hurt your performance to such a degree that you'd rather have nasty caluses on your hands? Curious because I've read this a lot lately.

Some federations do not allow gloves to lift at meets. Yes it can interfer with your lift and I have found that gloves just donot work for me. Plus when people shake my hand they know it has seen work. AND for a small part it is a vanity and pride thing that I can Deadlift 475+ with out anything but a belt and chalk.

So I guess if you don't compete it is personal preference. For me, it is all about looking good naked, and ugly hands would only defeat the purpose.

Gloves and straps suck...give Vera grips a try. Great, just a twist and go, no wrapping.

I like using gloves. Putting them on is kinda like putting on my battle gear. It's a ritual for me.:dumbbell:

I don't wear gloves. Not wearing them improves your grip strength... but, it all depends on your goals and wants.

I have read that gloves do impede grip strength and have taken that into consideration. However, if my bard hands are hurting badly enough while lifting a heavy weight my tendency is to loosen my grip to escape the pain anyway.
