I'm 5'7" 104 Lbs, at the age of seventeen. Outside of gym classes I had in High school and Middle school, I only just started to lift weights/exercising regurlarly in the last two months.

I would like to hit 135-145 pounds, yet I seem to never be able to gain weight. I try to take in more calories, but I usually only hit 1700-2100 with my normal three meals a day, occasionally four. I eat my dinner right before I sleep, as that is when your metabolism starts to slow down.

My question is, outside a change in diet, would it be possible to gain weight through lifting weights? I have next to no muscle at this moment. I would be happy to gain even 10-15 pounds at this point.

Dude honestly you can do it, and it isn't even that hard. Weights will definitely help, but it is impossible without eating more. YOu dont have to tweakyour diet too much, just eat like a machine. Take what you eat now and do 1.5-2 times what you currently eat. It'll work trust me.

ecle5c is totaly right......at your age and weight and sex you need at least 2500 or more....without getting real complex just eat. Keep it clean as you can (junk foods will add weight but fat as well). Just eat and by all means LIFT

being that light...a little bit of "dirty" calories...might help.

drink 2 of these a day:

take:

3 scoops peanut butter
2 cups milk(whole or 2%)* whole if possible for extra cal.
1 banana
2 scoops ice cream
1-1/2 scoops whey protein

blend in a blender...theres and easy 500+calories...

--------------

Get your bicep curling, cut off shirt, matching workout outfit wearing, flexing in mirror "toned" wanna-be ass , out of my squat rack!

Don't talk to me, only thing that should be moving is the bar.

to add....drink that in addition to 4 whole real meals.

drink 1 after workout....the other after dinner but before bed

aim for dinner around 6-7ish....drink that 15mins before bed on workout days.

On non workout days....take out the ice cream, and banana. Before bed shake.

Thanks for the tips, 2500 calories only seems to be 1 1/2 more meal(s) then I normally eat.

I'll try that shake as well .
