Was wondering what people prefer for general conditioning when they are strapped for time.....HIIT or Complexes? or something else?

Complexes because HIIT is CNS intensive. Whenever I am doing HIIT, my lifting stops progressing.
Besides that, complexes are more similar to what I have to do, and IMO are better for overall conditioning, as opposed to just cardiovascular training.

a complex is basically you take a weight, say a 45lb bar, and you do a series of exercises with it, without putting the weight down and by immediatly goin into the next exercises until all your reps are completed or however.
Ex-- Hang clean, push press, back squat, good morning.
this can be done several way, you can do a rep of each, then move onto the next exercise and continue till you do say 10 reps, or you do all 10reps of one exercise then immediatly move to the next. your goal is to do it as fast as you can with perfect form.. something that will really tire you out. that may not be the best exercise selection, but it works for my point... good luck, and someone should clarify shortly..

steve, what do you recommend in the way of complexes? i need to increase my conditioning a lot for intramural sports and also id like to drop some weight and get rid of bulk belly...
do you think i could add in complexes effectively on off day of westside? i imagine its too much on the CNS, but i dont know! i really dont want to drop either... im stuck in the "i want to get bigger/stronger still but want to cut back cuz im gettin to big" phase. its very confusing...

Here's a good explanation...

If doing westside, I would put them in at the end of the dynamic days. I believe this is also what Alwyn recommends.
I also like tabata intervals for conditioning...

However, now that I'm not wrestling or fighting, I RARELY do any conditioning, outside of my event training.

Also, my favorite tabata workout is overhead squats. 5 minutes of overhead squats will destroy you.
Man am I glad I don't ever have to do that again...
