i was at the nutrition house today and the guy working there said that natural peanut butter has no essential fatty acids(EFA). whats up with that. he was even like the fat in natural peanut butter isn't that good, he's like it's in between good fat and bad fat? is that true?

Some will argue that natural peanut butter is as full of good EFA's as other fats. But if this were true, why wouldn't they list the EFA's proudly. Especially in this day of media, knowing how popular they are becoming. This in itself is a shortfall in peanut butter. I personally love it, but eat it in moderation. Opt for your fats something that lists EFA's, such as cold water fish, flax oil, etc.

Interesting question . . . I'll look into it.

As it turns out, peanut butter does have a very bland fatty acid profile. However, it is still a good source of monounsaturated fats (nearly half of its fat content) that I don't think should be overlooked.

I highly recommend peanut butter if you are on a gaining cycle. I like to mix it in my chocolate protein drinks, tastes like a Reese Cup. Also nothing better than peanut butter on hot whole grain toast, sprinkle some chocolate protein powder on it!

by the way, when they say 14 grams is 1 tablespoon, how much is considered a tablespoon. should the tablespoon be leveled off. for example, one tablespoon of olive oil is one leveled off tablespoon. is it the same for peanutbutter, cuz one leveled off tablespoon of peanut is not a lot, i must eat like 6 a day

One tbsp. to my knowledge is always the same, 1 level tbsp. Sometimes you might find something say 1 rounded tbsp. But if not....

That's a good question. I've always assumed that it was whatever came out on the spoon!
