At 5:30 on the morning of February 13th, God chose to take my Great Dane, Tuxedo, home to Him after permitting me to have 12 wonderful years with this fantastic dog. Tux passed peacefully and quietly (albeit unexpectedly) in his sleep at my home, surrounded by those who loved him.
Tuxedo was truly a magnificent animal: extremely intelligent, loyal, and protective. His extreme size was matched only by the amount of love that he demonstrated, not only to me, but also to things as delicate as a 6-week old kitten: We experienced many things together, developing a link that few living things can ever achieve. Many events were good, and I enjoyed them with him. However, Tux and I also experienced a tremendous amount of adversity over the last decade; in fact, I dare say that Tux went through more with me than any human in my life. His faithfulness never wavered, always standing by me at the end of it all, asking only for his doggie treats and a whole lot of love in return. Tux?s memory will be carried on in the thoughts of everyone who ever met him. Some people may think that acknowledging him like this is absurd, but if you know me, and you know Tux, then you know that he and I had a great connection, a true team in getting through this experiment called Life. He was the best friend a man could ever ask for. Few people are blessed in their lifetime to have shared such a bond. I thank God that I was allowed to be one of them. -------------- Michael Those who think they know everything, annoy those of us who really do. |

I am truly sorry to hear about your beloved puppy. I too lost my dog of 15 yrs in Oct so I know exactly how you feel. Alot of people will think that they are "just dogs" but we both know that is not the case. They are a very loved family member (closer than most humans). Again , I am sorry

Mike My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend! Like Tiger said the dog is a family member for us and the loss is just as bad as that of a person.-------------- Curl Jockeys, get outta the squat rack! I saw your post about this on the 'other' website. I'm really sorry to hear about you losing a family member. Just remember Tux is in a better place.

I am truly sorry and at a loss of words Michael. I know the bond between an animal and human is truly extraordinary and one of a kind and I feel a minute amount of your pain. What you said above stated it perfectly, you were blessed to have a being so devoted to you and he was blessed to have you so devoted to him. You and Tux are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry about Tux Rev. I'll make a donation in his name tomorrow at the SPCA.-------------- A little discipline at the table and at the gym might help reduce that belly! Ivan Montreal Canada (City of Festivals) |

I am truly sorry for your loss Rev. As I read this my eyes tear up. I know there will come a day when god will take the gift of my best friend and pal from me. And to be honest i'm not sure I could bare it. I only hope that we can have so many years together. The loss of my pup would truly be the loss of a child for me.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss Rev. A bond like that is a precious gift and although it doesn't help, just know that not only did Tux enrich YOUR life, but thanks to you Tux had a wonderful life.

Thanks for all of the thoughts, guys. It's been a week, getting better, just still getting hit with that emptiness when I get home. But I will be back up to full speed on the boards this week.-------------- Michael Those who think they know everything, annoy those of us who really do. |

I hate to tell you but that emptiness never leaves. It hits me everytime I come home and my dog is not there to greet me. I can see my dog's grave in my backyard (we have something with lights on it) when I get out of my car and think about her every time
