Hey guys! I was just wondering, sometimes I get these mad cravings for chocolate, and sweets (I have a very big sweet tooth!!) and I also tend to munch on things when I am bored. Does anyone else have this problem? Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop? Like what worked/is working for you? I really appreciate it!!

Hey Buffy,
I have the same problem. When I'm bored I tend to want to be eating something. The way I handle this is by not buying any of the "bad stuff". I buy lots of fruits and vegies like carrots and grapes and always have cottage cheese in the fridge. The only "snack" food I buy is the low fat popcorn and that seems to help. Also, if you crave chocolate, try having just a little piece and savor it. Or, if you're like me and that doesn't work, I buy fat free/sugar free pudding or fudgesicles. I also found that having tic tacs helps with that sweet craving. Hope that helped! Good luck!

Eventually that sort of eating will become habit. I have junk food in my apartment, but I never touch it, because I feel like it's a 'wasted' meal if there's no protein. I still have candy in my cupboard from last Easter, unopened and untouched.

Try improving your vitamin intake. That has alot to do with it.

Amen to the gum... unfortunately I teach in a "gum free" school. but any other time that I can it really is helpful.

Don't be afraid to sometimes give in to those cravings. If you have been dieting steadily, without cheating for a good period of time, it is not a bad Idea to reward yourself a bit. This keeps the cravings down, and keeps you from a total splurge(pig out). This tends to happen if you deprive yourself totally. If you are not in competition mode, treat yourself occasionally. Do this A reward, have that piece of chocolate, eat it very slowly and savor it. Make it last. Then get right back on the correct diet. Give yourself a gold star, and no harm done.
