Ok, have not had a post on here in a zabillion pounds....but alas, never been to California and have upcoming trip to Los Angeles (hubby has a seminar at UCLA) and wondered if anyone has gone and knows things to do - good places to eat (moderatly priced) ANYTHING - since I'll (gee) be stuck having to do things solo while he goes to class. WOULD hope people can respond with details! I am not good on doing research via the net on this stuff!

Things to do!!! Man there is so much!
Try the Universal City Walk at Universal Studios...
The walk is free and has tons of shopping and different restaurants.
Like the beach, check out Venice Beach or the Santa Monica Pier & Promenade.
Like hiking, thre is actually Griffith Park in the middle of LA that has horseback riding, trails, the works...
These are just to name a few, tell me what you like and I will tell you what to do. :)

I thought I did hit reply to this the other day. Anyway, boo hoo, looks like you are the only one who has been to LA. I will take any info you can give me. Bummer my hubbie has to be in class so I have to do stuff alone. So any info on safety etc will be worth it to me. We will be close to the College (UCLA) so whateve is around there. Are you still married I thought, to a guy on here? I remember you from about 5 yrs ago! Time flies eh?

Sorry, wog, I grew up in LA but I've been away so long I really wouldn't know what to suggest...except the beach, and it is a little cold to really enjoy doing that.

workingoutgirl, yeah that was me...but I am divorced now....long story...different day.
Well the best transportation you can do over there is the subway system they have now, it takes you everywhere and don't worry, just take the basic safety precautions as you would any trip you would take. UCLA is actually located near Culver City one of the nicer parts of LA. :)
Since you are there you might as well take a look at some of the exhibits there at UCLA that are open daily like the Botanical & Sculpture Gardens.. you can also make reservations to see the Japanese Gardens if that is your cup of tea.
Here is a link to the bus, subway system etc and you can find directions to many different places there and what types of transit you need to take with their trip planner.

Here is another great tourist link that I always give my friends when they are traveling to Los Angeles.

Here is a standard link that provides tips for women traveling alone provided by the government, but being from Los Angeles, it wouldn't hurt to carry a small spray of extra strength pepper spray or a fog horn. That is entirely up to you, I wouldn't do it, but I know the streets blindfolded and am familiar with the people and the area and I am a bit of daredevil...lol

Well, some good INFO...at least I got ONE member who tried to help me:big_smile:! I've been the divorced route but got remarried 2 years ago! My mom just passed away a week ago and with her being in the hospital for the past 10 weeks (2 including Hospice) our starting to get back to working out got delayed. So, we'll be starting it back up SOON! GOT TO! I use to post things on here waaay back when but got out of the loop for awhile! Seems to still be a good network of people on here! It's like a second home for you eh??? After all these years? Hopefully you are doing well, healthy and happy! So, far, I AM! Glad you reponded! Thanks for all the tips!
