I about fell out of my chair when they told me....they politely told me I was BROKE....without my husbands backing...tried to talk me into putting him on the loan for an hour...but they finally got it approved...RIDICULOUS....they were shocked though...couldnt beleive I'd never even had a credit card in my own name...I thought I'd do pretty good....what I am on with my husband has always been on time...no problems...but THAT doesnt count....for ME...only HIM...crap...complete crap....

I'm the one who pays the da** bills to ensure thay ARE on time...his money...but still!!!!!!!!!

OK....done venting.....everybodies got to start somewhere....

That is the way it goes with credit

Although KC, you should get credit for what you are signed on with your husband. It should just show as a joint acct instead of an individual acct. If it was bad, I know they would consider it. I would consider it and that is what I do. Approve auto accts for car dealers

What kind did you get?

when they were trying to secure financing...I could see them in there...they looked like they were beating their heads against a wall...the main guy would keep sending the sales guy out to ask me if I was SURE I didnt want to just put my husband on the loan...finaly I looked at him and said NOOOOOOOOOO....we clear????...he just put his head down...and said OK....he was funny....

Your very own car...woohoo! Now you can go cruzin' Nothing like feeling independant.

My daughter just turned 16, so I'll be teaching her how to drive soon-this scares the hell out her dad, but I think it'll give her some independance...now I just have to figure out how I'll get her to drive hubby's car instead of mine!

My dad tried to teach me to drive....I gave him an absolute heart attack...so my mom tried...she drove ME nuts with all of her gasps and slamming on the floor like she was hitting the break...SOOOO...they left it to my brother...THAT was a mistake...this is a kid that stripped his REVERSE gear...taught me to do a pretty good e-break slide though...

last night when I was test driving the car I was checking out all the buttons...and a truck stopped in front of me...so I had to slam on the breaks...I just looked over at the sales guy...his eyes were all big...he said he didnt want me to have to hear him scream like a little girl...so he was glad he could hold it in...was hilarious.....

Hey, KC I know that feeling! I did it about a year and a half ago. I did all the research online, got the scoop on what I should pay from Edmunds, contacted dealerships online and we made the deal over the phone. I knew exactly what I wanted, what I wanted to pay and even haggled with the manager over the phone (I am really not the haggling type). My daughter drove me to the dealership to pick up my new car...I was in and out in about an hour because all that was left was to do the paperwork. I sat through the schpiel the finance guy puts you through to buy extended warranties, alarms, etc. and just shook my head to everything and made sure I got my 6.25% interest rate. I was pretty damn proud of myself.

I'm confused though, because I inherited my ex-husbands credit rating (actually it was ours, but bad because of him, and I had to go through steps to erase his negatives and bring mine up). It seems like you should have had the same. Didn't you have your name on any of the credit accounts or mortgage or anything? We had pretty much everything in both our names. Huh, now I have great credit and his is worse than ever.

I'm not sure what happened either Kathy...I said the same thing...credit cards we have had in the past...but I ...uh....was a little nutty with them so they all got canceled...weren't bad...all paid on time....I just spent to much. When I was younger my dad gave me credit cards...and he paid the bills...I never got used to that..."free money" feeling with them...SOOOO those got tossed.I beleive they DID count it...the mortgage and the cars and so on...but were desperate for my husband to sign with me....I dont know...thats just what they told me.But it was fun....to do it myself...I didnt do such a good job on MY interest rate...but...it felt good to do it on my own.

Yeah, I still feel all warm and fuzzy when I recall the experience of doing it without help from anyone. It was empowering...he he, there's no stopping me now!

The dealership was about an hour drive from my house. So I'm on the freeway scared to death I'm going to have an accident before I can get the car home. Then when I got home my dead Escort was blocking my entrance to the garage. It was probably 10 p.m. and there was NO WAY my new car was going to spend the night in the driveway. So, I got out and pushed and shoved (then remembered to release the emergency brake, ha ha), until I had enough room to squeak past the Escort and garage my new, beautiful Super White Toyota Matrix. It was a proud moment.

yep NO credit is bad i found that out when i went to rent a place but now i have credit cause i have had a loan and a flat but if your one of those ppl who everythings in your partners name then you split and you end up having no credit you'll find it hard to get a loan or a place to rent. this is so weird i got a credit card for 2,000 and i'm a very low income earner and my older bro is a very high income owner but never had any credit and he went to get a credit card and they would only give him 3,000 how strange i swear they give credit cards to ppl who cant afford them on purpose to make money from them!

Very cute baby...and you look cute, too, Christal.
Now how come I can only see those pictures when I click on your 1 and 2 profile pics? It's like a surprise when you click on the thumbnails and a completely different picture appears. Happens a lot on here, but I still don't understand why.

try just hitting your refresh button on the browser. Your computer often holds info on pages you visit often in its "cache" and you may need to refresh to get the current pictures. doesn't always work...but usually does.....I'll take of my nerd hat now:big_smile:

That worked...I thought my browser refreshed automatically. BTW, I actually have my BS in Computer Information Systems! So, you think I could have figured that one out.
