I sent Hector off to the war at 3:00am Monday morning.
Thus begins a long seven to twelve months of emotions and struggles that I can't even begin to describe in a way that somebody not connected to the military could understand. Thanks to the many of you who have promised to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I'll tell you, standing there watching the love of my life drive away without knowing if he will ever come home...well...those thoughts and prayers took on a whole new meaning to me...to us both. So, thanks, from the bottom of my heart. -------------- A morning without coffee is like something without something else. |

Our thoughts are definetely with you. As an ex airforce brat I know all too well what military wives go through...my Dad was a fighter pilot and everyday my Mom worried whether my Dad would walk back thru the door. Thankfully he always made it home, as I know Hector will:love:

Hector called to let me know that after a week, he is finally on the base and beginning the process of setting up for the main body of the unit to arrive.
He said the week long trip was sleepless and frustrating. He also said that where the convoy ride to the actual base was frightening, (especially since a few hours before there was a bombing right outside the city that he is in), more frightening is the fact that his soon to be office is infested with mice. (Hector has an intense fear of rodents...lol) Thank you for the continued support and prayers. -------------- A morning without coffee is like something without something else. |

dfly, Be assured, Hector will be watched over. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Hector as well. As a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, I have had friends that were there at the beginning of the war guarding the offshore drilling rigs from being blown to bits by outlandish shiite terrorists. My brother-in-law is currently in Baghdad right now. A couple months ago, when some helicopters were shot down, he was in that same convoy, picking up the rear and was one of the lucky ones that made it; that was an eye-opener. I worry about him too, as well as some friends and fellow shipmates in the Coast Guard and the other armed forces. Stay positive. We're here for you through this difficult time and know that there those that understand how you feel and what you are going through. I can picture, in the not-so-distant-future, my brother-in-law and Hector, AFTER THE WAR, celebrating their success and dedication to the great U.S. of A, who knows, maybe even together. Yet, rest assured, while they are away, my Coast Guard shipmates and I, and fellow members of the armed forces will stand the watch, guarding the coasts and protecting the families of our boys fighting abroad for their country and the freedoms we hold so dear. Best regards.
