Hi welcome to FT.
Need motivation? I think you already have it. Firstly you looked for help, and secondly I read the nickname you chose. All you have to decide is how *much* you want the old you! Have a read of the stickies and plan the routine you've signed up for. Good luck! |

Get your diet in line, add weight training and some cardio. Take your measurements and weight yourself when you start. Now bust your butt for 2 months without weighing or measuring again. At the end of 2 months weigh and measure. You should see a big difference - pay more attn to reduction in measurements than weight. When you see the results, that will be all the motivation you need. Try it and good luck

On the daily exercise it has 4 of each sets to do. Do I do all for the same time on that day or break it up? One set 4 x a day? It also says I should start next monday but I wanted to start today the 20th of march. Is that ok? If so how do I keep track of what I did sense tuesday was a reast day for me?

To break it down a little.
Lifting a weight up then down would be 1 'rep' (repetition). A group of reps would be a 'set'. So, 1 x 15 would be one set of 15 reps. 2 x 10 would be two sets of 10 reps etc. Groups of sets are useful because they allow you to recover somewhat between sets, that means you can lift more overall than if you lifted all in one long set. I usually don't rest more than a minute between sets although I'm not sure what the 'official' line is. So to answer your original question (finally!) Do the 4 sets together with a little rest between each set. Remember to drink lots of water too! |

track how you want it...keep it simple...just follow this week as if that plan doesnt exist yet, meaning follow the plan just dont fill in journal for weights used etc..
and yes follow the plan going straight down the paper usually increasing weight as reps lower but take it slow at first and rest 1-2 mins between each set |

Hey Di,
remember to do plenty of stretching before and after your workout, that helps me lose some of that tightness you mention. After a while I started to like the feeling the day after, meant I knew something was happening! ============ Quoting from wantTheoldme: OH BOY I feel it today. Yea today I felt ok but ended up sick in bed with a bad cold. Couldnt do anything. I was running a fever but felt cold. Tonight it seems to be going away. I hope I feel better in the morning so I can do my work out.
Jonshez I did do stretching before my workout and I took a 1 mile before so maybe that also made them sore. I could hardly stand up they were so sore. Well enough of me complaining. LOL See you all later. Di |

Well I start tomorrow on my workout just hope Im up to it. Not sore any more but still have a bad cough and cold. I'll take it easy the first few times try to get them all down and drink lots of water. I have already lost a few lbs but I'm on a different food plan then here and need to drink 100oz of water any way. I also try to walk about 4 to 5 miles a week. Not much but when you only have 2 days you can walk by your self thats alot. I have a 5 yearold who is home 3 days a week.
Well wish me luck lol. Di |

HAving had two injuries since january, I would ad the following warning - if you're unsure or starting to exercise again after a break, go and get checked out by your Dr.
Your shoulder is quite a complicated piece of engineering, and bits of it move over other bits to allow all that movement. That could be the source of the popping. If it is 'clunking' then get it checked before you do anymore. When you say it hurts, do you mean the muscles hurt, or the joint? If it's the muscles, then try a less strenuous pushup, either keep your knees on the floor, or lean against a worktop or something to put you at 45 degrees rather than parallel to the floor. If it's the joint, get it checked. Seriously, getting injured is no joke, and it can put you back weeks. Take care! Jon |

i know i have arthitis in my news i take a pill for that. As for the shoulder its not really the joint that hurts but when it pops or sounds like it pops that is what hurts. No I havent been to the Dr. in years. But I know im preaty health other then my weight. I hate Drs. lol and dont have insurence to see one or enough money. I have med. books at home but cant find anything about it.
No injury to arms or legs or any joints. May be I have arthitis in shoulder to cause my knees pop like that to. I will take it slow and wont do anything to hurt my self. Thank you Jon and Jay you two have helped me alot on here. Di |

have you tried bench press does it do it then if so, may just be too much weight on pushup if not....for those new to exercise the pushup is very demanding exercise
