Yeah, I do it everytime that I squat, but I do have trouble doing it with a close olympic style stance. You need to learn sit back. Break at the hips first and stick your butt out.

hrmm...I am not sure that I understand the difference. My form is the same no matter what depth I hit. I don't use a visual queue for depth anymore. It is more of certain stretch feeling in my gluts or maybe the tension change on my knees as I go past parallel. I am not really sure, but I can definitely feel when I hit the right depth. Over time, I have become more flexible. Consequently, my squat depth has increased.

The only time I can imagine my knees going past my toes would be if I were leaning too far forward...which I am careful not to do for fear of falling forward. If you focus on sitting back with weight on your heels, it should not be problem. I also don't see why depth of squat would make a difference...you're sitting back and downward. Deeper would be sitting further down, but you should be in the same 'sitting back' position as when you started.

You might try doing front squats instead of back squats. For me front squats helped me to keep proper form.

Your Knees will slightly pass your toes in a close stance and never in a wide stance.

I use to think it was bad forum but didn't even understand the difference between the 2 and I even said 1 time that the pic on this site of a man doing the squat was bad forum but it isn't he is in a close stance.

Pic I'm referring to is in the routine set up part of this site!

Again in a close stance I said slightly over not allot!

it would help to fill out your profile due to the fact if your tall then you will have a harder time i found me at 6'1" i have to focus hard on form to doa squat right but if i do them with a wide stance (sumo style) I can do them a whole lot better

I suppose your proportions could make a difference, if you have very long legs. Might be more awkward.

well i don't know how it is for most ppl but i do manage to keep the knees in line with the toes if i go deeper but i can't manage it with parallel squats.as it is the knees trajectory does pass the toes at some point(especially when the thighs are parallel) and only at the point of contraction do the knees come in line with the toes (ie. if am doing deep squats).
