I lifted weights for 6 years and was in the best shape of my life however that was a long time ago (got married - u know how it goes)so now im back in the gym and into my 4th week of training. To be honest im dissapointed with my progress due to the lack of weight loss - im training 5/6 days a week high intensity with 30-40 minutes aerobic work thrown in. My diet consists of protein every 3 hrs (egg whites - chicken or tinned salmon) low fat and medium carbs. Has my body gone into shock? - im getting more muscular and am feeling great but i want to strip the fat down and dont mind a bit of muscle loss. Thank u in advance for any advice......cheers

Here is the link to the article that talks all about the HIIT process. Great cardio exercise that helps you burn fat a lot quicker than other cardio. Good luck!

============ Quoting from ravenwolf:
It takes time for this to happen. They say after about 6 weeks you can really start to tell. You did not gain weight over night. It is easier to put on weight then to take it off. Also stop looking at the scale. Muscle weighs more then fat. If your close are fitting even a little bit looser then it is working. Stay the course and you will reach your goals. Keep the diet clean and make sure you eat 5 to 6 small meals a day. One other thing....if you are not already doing this try to do your cardio after your weight training. Also try HIIT cardio. It is a butt kicker and will really burn the calories. Do a search on this site and it will tell you all about it. Keep it going man!! =============

thanks for the info 'raven' found the hiit article interesting - its funny how things have changed since i last trained a few years ago. I think your right with the 'scales' thing - i think what im losing in fat im gaining back in muscle - because i havent trained in along time, my body doesnt know whats hit it so the gains are going well. Anyway - thanks again, i will keep you posted!

yea baymaster, good news. also remember patience is very well when it comes to this, it doesn't happen overnight and it certainly won't when it comes to fat loss as well. Try to think of this more as a way of life instead of jsut a diet to get into shape. i mean, once you get into shape what are you going to do then? go back to the same bad lifestyle and eating habits you had before? i think not, if you do so you will end up at the same place you are today, the goal is to once you've reached where you want to be, to stay that way and that requires just as much discipline and dedication as losing the initial fat does. So just take baby steps for now and you will see it come off a little at a time, the clothes will start to feel looser, you will start to see your face narrowing and see definition in your body. it is such an awesome feeling even when you've seen the smallest results and that in itself will motivate you to continue wanting more results. Good luck!
