I started exercising two days ago. I am starting light with a three day plan. Today I am supposed to work out again, but I can hardly stoop down to pick something up off the floor. My stomach muscles feel like someone punched me. Is this normal? I am so very sore today. How am I supposed to exercise like this?

Yes it is normal. It will go away. Take hot baths or showers and go for a nice slow paced job or walk that will help, I would tell you to wait till tomorrow to workout. This should not be as bad as you go along
-------------- Curl Jockeys, get outta the squat rack!
I wish everyone would get a partial amnesia and never use 'tone' ever again. (thanks Menance)

This won't happen everytime either. If you are starting to exercise after being sedentary, you are definately going to be sore. Your muscles adapt im many ways to exercise and adapting to stress after excercise is one of them. Definately do NOT try to work out if you are sore. Take it easy, let your muscles recover and get right back at it when the soreness diminishes. Don't let this be an excuse to quit (something I have done in the past).

Stacie, it depends on your goals. I am assuming you are going light weight with high reps. If so, working out while sore will increase blood flow to those muscles and help you recover.

Sometimes doing a little light cardio will also get the blood flowing and help with recovery also. But don't necessarily wait until the soreness sets in.
Also you could try some alternate hot/cold showers (finish cold).

If you sign up and follow the beginner free-trainer work out guide on here, you should be ok to continue working out. For example, on Saturday my Triceps hurt so bad I could hardly brush my hair without being in agony. However, I had to go to the gym to work out my shoulders (per my free-trainer schedule). The workouts that they give are well isolated and give each muscle group ample resting time. There was no pain in my triceps as I did the shoulder exercises. So, now today my triceps AND shoulders are sore, but luckily tomorrow I get to work my legs instead. ;)
