I usually have cheat days every other month or so when mid terms or final exams are over in school, I celebrate by going out to eat at one of my favorite fast food restaurants. I have one delicious, mouth watering artery clogging meal... hee hee.. then don't have another one like that for another 2 months or so. Is that a good idea at all??? :|

Physiologically, a cheat meal does not benefit. The exception to that rule is when you're on a calorie restricted or reduced carb diet, upping calories or carbs (respectively) for one day a week will help you avoid plateaus. However, psychologically, a cheat meal can be the smartest thing you can do in your fitness regimen. If occaisional cheating will keep you in your proper eating habits, go for it. I have a cheat meal or day as often as once a week, particularly when I'm gaining. Treat yourself and don't feel bad!

Today is Valentine's Day and tomorrow is my birthday...so I am entitled to a cheat...LOL.
But tonight, I will still do a little calorie burning exercises....

Phsycologically it sure works. If you are not on a contest diet where you have a certain time frame to be in a certain condition, then a cheat meal/day will definitely take the edge off and help subdue that all out binging that can take place from being deprived for too long. A cheat day is not quater pounders all day though(talk about a setback!), but maybe one meal or even just your favorite treat. Savor it, enjoy it, and get back to "business". The more you cheat, the longer your "business", so keep that in mind. One word of caution here, if you do have an "all out" day, don't try to make it up by starving yourself the next day or something. Every meal is an entity in itself, just pick right back up with the next scheduled meal. Your body still needs to be nourished.
