When I'm dieting I measure every single thing and my little food scale become my very best friend. If you want other ways to measure take a look at, http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/weight

Measuring is extremely important. When dieting seriously, guesswork does not work. It leads to dieting disaster. You can always buy those like ziploc containers or whatever brand, they have premeasured containers, like 1 cup, 1 1/2 cups, etc. This is a good way to measue your salad and vegetables and similar. A scale is pretty invaluable on the meat portions though.

For weighing meat for example, it is invaluable. Say you are having lean beef 3 times per week. Beef is approximately 60 calories per ounce for example. Well, if you go an ounce over by eyeball, or whatever other method you use, there is 180 extra calories. Now, will this hurt you? Depends on your goals, how strict you need to be. But I will tell you from experience, guessing does not cut it. Add to that an ounce over on chicken at 4 more meals, and there is approximately another 120 calories. So now we are at 300 calories over, and so on. Just some "food" for thought.

When my husband was on his last comp. diet I carried a scale to my son's house for dinner one night. They laughed about it and I ignored them and went on to weigh out our food. Now you might ask why I have brought this to your attention? While we are dieting and watching what we eat, they are eating all they want, when they want. He weighs right at 300 and she is every bit of 250. But, you know I would never laugh at what they do:)
