I am new and a little confused at the calorie level this site recommended isn't 4,360 calories a lot in one day?

The numbers here are often high. If you multiply your bodyweight by 10 - 15 (I go with 12), that will give you a ballpark calorie count to start with. For example, if you weigh 180 lbs. multiply by 12 and that gives you 2160 calories. It is kind of a rule of thumb formula and a place to start.
