hey if anyone is a lawyer or cop or just knows about the law can you please help me with this?
Ok yesterday i was pulled over by the police my brother was driving and me and two other of our friends were in the car. The police searched the whole car and even popped the trunk with no warant. When my brother first stepped out of the car one of the three policeman made some comment somethingf like " We have drugs in the van and we can plant them on you." They put one of my friends into handcuffs for no aparaent reason. Also they patted all of us down and they touched our genital region. They kept on asking my friend what we were doing by Harrison Ave. which they claim to be the biggest drug block in Staten Island and my friend told him he stepped out of the car to make a call. The policemen didnt like his response and told him if you tell me that again ill arrest you right now. Also, one of them thought my friend was laughin and he said " Are you laughing? Cause I'll kick you in teh f**kin head right now." After all of this they didnt finf any drugs on us.

Don't know about up there... but down here.. they have probable cause to stop you and search without a warrant if you are within a known drug area. I am sitting here with our assist police chief (one of my hubbys best friends) who said he is surprised that you were not all put in cuffs. It is normal for people to be cuffed while being searched. If you were patted down... yeah they touched your genitals.. its one of the most common areas that people hide drugs. Sorry to say that I dont see where they did anything wrong.
NOTE* if they said the thing about planting drugs.. then yes they were wrong but you cant prove it so better of dropping it.

Have to agree with GeoriaG on that one Devin. Up here in Montreal it's the same routine.
On the other hand, maybe there is something you don't know about your friend(s).

Man these cops in the USA act like animals or the gestapo, and then wonder why they get shot.
I sometimes see this stuff on tv, puting kids in handcuffs, assaulting.
Here in Australia, no way a thing like that could happen, you could sue the cop who did that.
Once on the news here in Australia, this aussie punk stole a car, the cops were after him, street after street pursuit. He stopped at his family home ran inside with the police after him. His family was panting the walls in the home, the cops got buckets of pant thrown at them. It was official that the cops had overreacted, not to mention being knocked out by cans of paint.

You shouldn't judge what you don't know!
Our Cops are the way they are because of how our streets are, they don't get shot at because the are gestapo they get shot at because people don't want to get arrested!
When I was young dumb and on drugs I fought every time they arrested me it's what got me sent to prison for 2 years, fighting with Cops!
I watched my Hell's Angel Father not just fight with them all the time he would have shoot outs with them just because he didn't want to get pulled over, arrested and ect.
When I was a kid our police where pussies here just like it sounds like they are in Australia according to you but know they keep allot of stuff in check like Hell's Angels which don't and can't get away with the stuff my father did back then.
As a parent I'm glad they act the way they do and help make the streets safer for my kids!
All a cop wants to do is come home to his or her family but they face people daily that will KILL not to go to jail with a whole hell of allot of them that have no problem killing period!

I dated a cop here, who was originally from Australia, and had been a cop there too. He said it was one in the same. Both places have their problems. The police there, and the crime, are just like the police and crime here.
