Just wanted to say hi. I'm soooo sick right now. Sore throat, fever, throwing up, the works. No working out for me, and no food for that matter either. I did manage to keep a few crackers and some 7-up down yesterday. So, I had to come to work because my assistant is on vacation and we have this rule where ONE of us has to be here no matter what. At this point I'd be happy if someone came in "postal" and killed me. Anyone feel sorry for me? ha ha.
On a happy note, today is my son's 8th birthday. We went to see Transformers over the weekend (cool movie!) so I've got to go shopping over lunch to get some Transformers toys for him. I find that I have a harder time with each birthday that passes. Although he's excited to be a big 8 year old, on his b-day every year I seem to reminisce: "at this time 8 years ago I was in the hospital... my water broke.... I was getting my eppidural... I held him for the first time... etc". Am I the only one who does this? It just seems like time is going so darn fast, and my babies are growing up WAY too fast. Fellow mothers, throw me some support! ha ha. |

Hope you feel better soon! and Happy Bday to your son!-------------- My Catahoula did it. I saw a book titled "Sex for Dummies" and wondered why anyone would teach dumb people how to reproduce? |

get well! being sick sucks, as you know :( Stay hydrated!
We liked Transformers, too! It was action from start to finish! Happy Birthday to your son! I think about our birth experience every time, too. Just wait until he is 12 or so - it just keeps getting harder to guess what they would like! -------------- Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak. Thanks Amy. Well, I've got a Dr. appt. today at 11:45. 3 days in a row now I've had a high fever that won't break, last night I was apparently halucinating. Even my halucinations are dumb! I saw the refrigerator "back-firing" like a car and trying to catch on fire. Ok, so I know it's serious that I'm "that" sick, but still kind of funny.
On a happy note, being sick has stripped 7 lbs. off me. I don't suppose there's a way to keep that off once I'm healthy again? ha ha. |

Wow, hope you feel better. Fevers high enough to cause halucination are not to be messed with. But, yeah... Back-firing refrigerator is funny!
As for the growing of your children... Mine are 16 and 10. When I think of their ages it kind of freaks me out. I really don't feel any older than the day I gave birth to them, how can my children be that old?! OMG, that means I have gotten older too!! Nooooooooo!! LOL |

lol, funny mel. I feel the same way. I actually feel younger than I did when my first was born, but I'm a lot healthier now than I was then. It doesnt seem possible that 8 years have gone by!
I just got back from the Dr. Got a bad case of Strep throat. Fun stuff. But, on a side note, the Dr. noticed that I have lost 15 lbs. since my last Dr. appt. in April and was very pleased. That was a proud moment! |

Eeewww Strep! That is truly miserable. I feel for you!
Good going on the weight loss. Just remember when you start feeling better and your appetite comes back not to over do it and "pig out". Eat soft foods in small portions through-out the day and then you should be able to get back into the "regular" food without too much overload. (Sounds good in theory anyway!) |

had a feeling it might be strep. My daughter is prone to strep and your symptoms sounded familiar. Antibiotics will clear it up pretty quick, but make sure you finish ALL the antibiotics....regardless of how you feel!!
I hear ya with the kids BD's, mine are now 13 and 16, how the frack did that happen!! I remember being 16...how can I now have a 16 year old? On the plus side, I'm really enjoying my girls, thought the teenage years would be hell, but they've turned out to be very good kids:) -------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there. -------------- The harder you fall, the higher you bounce |

Sorry to hear you're so sick, Amy! Maybe you're feeling a little better by today? When my kids were young I got strep about three years straight. Not fun. I really hope you're feeling better.
As for your kids growing up too fast...my baby is 19, oldest is 24, and I am in the best shape of my life. I was never one to lament the passing of my children's childhood--I enjoyed watching them grow and enjoy them even more as adults. |

Ok guys. I'm hanging by a thread today. Woke up with a fever AGAIN, the worst headache in my life, chest pain, shortness of breath and hives! I have had strep a million times, used to get it every three months as a kid, weaned down to about once a year as a teen, and am back up to 2 or three times a year. I can usually diagnose strep myself (although you still have to go to the Dr.), but did think that it felt different this time since I had additional symptoms. So, I called my Dr., went back into his office and leanred that I have Mono along with the strep!!! Unfortunately antibiotics react adversly with the mono virus which is what causes the hives, so I have to stop taking the antibiotic, which will make the strep miserable until it goes away.
In addition, mono causes an enlarges spleen, so no exercise is allowed until the virus is gone per Dr. orders. 4 WEEKS MINIMUM!!!! I may as well just slather myself up with lard and butter! That's how I'm going to look in 4 weeks! Although, truth be told, I wouldn't have the energy to exercise right now if you paid me. Thanks for all the support guys. I'm going to need it! Man, this sucks! |

Just eat clean - lots of clear broths and jello, scrambled eggs....you will be fine!

Just take care of yourself and concern yourself with getting healthy. You have the rest of your life to work out. I've done the mono thing a couple of times as well and never felt so miserable, so I feel for you. The first time I was 17 and spent six days in the hospital. The second time I was a young mom with little ones--that was tough.
Take care of yourself! |

wow, that really does suck amyk:( Mono is a tough one to get over, so take care of yourself. As Amy says, eat clean and hopefully things will turn for the better quickly.
