Since you have 4 kids, i am sure you have a very busy schedual. When trying to get back in shape, incorporate your children into your workout routine. Bring them with you when you go for a brisk walk, biking, swimming etc. Depending on how old your kids are, you could even play sports with them, such as tossing a softball around. Not only will this get you into shape, but your kids will appreciate the quality time you share with them.
Diet is also imporant when trying to loose those extra pounds. If you check out the nutrition section on the site, there are many recipies you can try which are excellent for loosing weight.
If you spend time being active with your children, and teaching them about proper nutrition, not only will this benefit yourself, but it will benefit your kids as well!
Good luck!

Chanellt--
Not sure how old your kids are, but I was a stay-at-home mom of 4 kids with just 5 years between the oldest child and the youngest. Workout videos saved me...and there is such a variety out there. I made the effort to get up before the kids and do the videos or go for brisk walks (before my husband left for work). I joined the gym when 2 were in school and the other 2 were preschool age. I would either hit the gym while the little ones were in a 2-day/week community preschool program or I would utilize the daycare offered at the gym. My baby is 19 so this was a while ago...I'll be there are even more options now.
Slorbets had some good ideas. When my younger two were in Little League, I got out there and helped them practice. It was something...
