Why would you do them everyday? Your muscles need time to rest and recover, sounds logical that you would hurt yourself.

I don't think that's the danger of pull-ups, I think that's the danger of YOU. How are pull-ups dangerous?

People often confuse personal stupidity with inherent safety of an exercise. In your case it was just a complete case of ignorance that lead to the injury. Pull Ups are perfectly safe even with additional weight added to the exercise. The main concern would be tendinitis from frequent pull up sessions. However with smart periodization and recovery that should not be an issue either.

That's when you were 16. You were young and dumb, as we all were. I do weighted pull ups and the only side effect is bigger lats.

What a great quote! I used to say that there are no stupid questions, only stupid people who ask questions. I might change that to there are no stupid exercises, only stupid people who exercise.
