I am new to the site... I am 25 years old, 5'6", and weigh too much! I need to build my stamina, build some muscle and strength and lose body fat. I am so scared to actually join a gym. I can't afford a personal trainer and I wouldn't know what to do by myself. I'm sure it isn't as hard as I tell myself it is, but just getting the confidence to walk into the gym is the hardest part for me. If you have any suggestions on how to make this easier for me, please let me know.

Bmp,
I also took that big step to get into a gym. It is not easy if you have never been. My suggestion is to do the fitness plan here and print it out and take it with you to the gym. The fitness and nutritional plan in here is free and VERY good.
The next step is walking into that gym, I know it is hard. Just remember that everyone inside is working on themselves and concentrating on themselves, so they don't even see you. Don't be afraid. Take a pair of headphones with you, walk in and first try the treadmill, they are easy to use and you will see how fun it all is. I belonged to a gym for a year before I walked through the door. Made it to the parking lot a few times but never inside. Then one day I made the final few steps and it didn't hurt at all, in fact I LOVE it and look forward to going each day.
Good luck to you!!

You have taken the biggest step by making the decision to join the gym. I too can remember walking in the gym for the very first time over 20 years ago (im 42) thinking what will people think?. It's a gym - it's there to help you achieve your goals. Everyone has their own agenda and you will be no different. Hold your head up high, Dont be afraid to ask questions and remember you are doing this for you and nobody else.
This site will help support your gym work so use it to help you along.
Good luck and go get em girl!!
