There isn't a whole lot of prep you can do other than your normal PT. It's too hot, too wet, too dry and too hot after the wet.

Well said mikencharleston. You'll find that most places have a gym set up and usually they're not bad. We had a pretty good one set up before we had running water. You'll usually have the opportunity to work out and PT, depending on your job and current operations.

Mostly cardio, if your preping to come over here, your going to go through a lot of training before being deployed. Go to the gym as much as possible while your here, were on a three and one schedule and I work out every day of the week and take every eigth day off. Its real easy to avoid going to the gym while your here there is a lot of fat body's here. The worst physical riggor is dealing with the damn heat it was 140 degrees yesterday and its $%^@! october. anyway once you get used to the heat getting your body adjusted to going to the gym all the time is probably the only other thing thats tough, and curing boredom. Good luck when you arrive because that means i'll be gettin relieved

Hi, my name is michelle and I am currently located at f.e.warren. I have never been over seas but it was nice to see there are other military here.
I was wondering if anyone has ever had a sholder injury?
I am currently in from the field for an sholder injury and in two weeks I get to go back to the field along with that they are telling me to work on my upper sholder musles. Do you know what is the best way to get started and any suggestions?

One-Arm Cross-Cable Laterals but I wouldn't recommend working your shoulders out too much, even after a minor shoulder injury it's difficult to recover in only two weeks; just train your shoulders for better endurance by doing less weight with more reps and ice after every workout, I'd recommend taking an ibprofen or one of the 800mg motrins that the doctors give you every time you go to the clinic around a half hour before you workout so your not in pain post workout; and with an injury an anti-inflammatory will keep the swelling down during recovory. Good luck

It is great to see other members of the military here. Although currently I am not in and havent been for a while because of medical issues that got me discharged it is still nice to know im not the only person who served in the military on this site. Good luck to all of you over seas and those going over. I wish I could join you and if this doctors appointment works out thursday I might be able to.
