Last Saturday (8/11/07), I got to witness the last career competition of probably the greatest pound-for-pound powerlifter in history ? Ed Coan. It was at the USPF Nationals, held here in Vegas. Below is a link to a vid that I made from some of the footage that I got.
When you watch Big Ed, notice a few things:
1. At only the 242 class, his lifts were all him. His suit is pretty loose, as evident on how he adjusts the top of it, as well as how lose the leg openings are. He wrapped his knees only six times around.
2. When he sets for the squat, it is all business. Look at his face, how he grabs the bar, and how he does not hear what is going on around him.
3. On his last deadlift, watch his intensity as he stalks the bar, and see how powerful (scary?) his face is right before he approaches the bar.
The pics are from when they presented a framed picture of his accomplishments, as well as his awards for winning the meet.

Having never seen Ed lift is one of my regrets. I don't see anyone coming along that will do so much for a long time.

Yep he's beast. A guy from sherdog went to see him lift at that last comp then came back and set a 20lb deadlift PR(despite not deadlifting for a couple months).....apparently being in the same room as Coan increases your deadlift.....
