Hi,
I just joined this site and I need some help. I am 25, 240lbs, 5ft 8inch, and apparently my bmi is 37, and I am body type C---Meso-Endo???? I know that I have the potential to be fit...what I mean by this: I do not look like a person who was born fat, and I wasn't... up until about 20 years old. My problem areas: Jiggly back, big... but flat butt, sagging stomach that is big and hard at the top but just saggy at the bottom???. My arms and legs aren't to bad...I don't have kankles, but I would like my thighs not to rub against each other when I walk and they do a little.
Before I got pregnant with my first child at 21 I had gotten up to 220 lbs, I suspect from alot of drinking and late night eating. When I got pregnant of course all of that ended, and because I was eating healthy and not partying, after I delivered I was 196 lbs. I breastfed for 14 months and got pregnant with my second child...so I continued to be sober and healthy. My second child just turned 10 months and has been on the bottle for a couple of months now. Since she has not been breastfeeding, I allow myself to have a couple glasses of wine, 2-5 nights per week. I work from home now to be able to raise my children so I am not very active and snack through out the day. We shop organic and eat alot of veggies and fruits, wheat bread, 2% milk, alot of cheese I might add, and roasted unsalted cashews are a favorite of mine.
Here is my QUESTION: I just got a gym membership because I am tired of being tired and fat. I need to know what foods are best to eat for my body type to lose weight. My caloric intake allowance calculated 3100 calories per day....that seems like an aweful lot for weight loss achievment!!! Any suggestions???

First of all I would cut back on the alcohol, and if you do not choose to cut back on the alcohol, remember to include it into you daily caloric intake. Alcohol is just wasted calories. Try to eat 5-6 small meals a day, instead of larger meals. Smaller meals will boost your metabolism. Shopping organic is great...as you have mentioned, fruit, veggies, roasted cashews are all great options. Lean chicken breast and fish are also options to consider. Definately cut back on the cheese as much as possible, if you can cut it out completely, that would be even better!
Its great to hear you got a gym membership, you will feel much more energetic by getting some regular exercise. Remember that there should be no excuses for not being active. If you cant make it to the gym one day for any reason, go for a brisk walk with the kids, or buy one of those fitness dvd's, there are tons of them out there that can meet your needs.
Loosing weight takes time. It took years to put it all on, so its gonna take time to get it off. Work hard and stay motivated and you will see results!
Good luck!

Thank you for your reply and encouragement! I am really excited to go to the gym...I leave in an hour for my first day!
My goal is to lose weight and tone up my muscles. Why does this site tell me I need 3,197 calories per day and 480g of carbs??? I know that there are good carbs and bad carbs, but I am not sure which are the best foods for good carbs...do you have any advice?
Thanks!
