Hi, I am new, and I just signed up at the nutrition part of the site. I currently weigh 336. Yes, I know...but at least I am here. It says I have to eat 4476 calories! This simply just is way too high! I want to lose weight and get tone. Did I do it wrong??

I am in my 2nd week going to a gym,(4 times a week) and have seen considerable changes by just utilizing the machines, Currently, I am doing various machines 2 sets of 12, starting at 40 pounds, the lower body machines are higher of course... I haven't started a diet plan yet. I want to lose at least 50 pounds by December...what can I do...

well if you figure 10 cals per lb of body weight... that is 3360. Figure out your BMR and go from there.

I think that the calories suggested by this site are a little high. 4000 is probably more likely. 50 in 4 months is a lot. That is about 3lb a week. If you continue to lose this much for that long of a time period you will loose some muscle mass aka the stuff that make you look toned. Aiming for 1-2lbs a week is a much smarter goal. Although at 336 you will probably experience a more rapid loss at the beginning. In addition to losing muscle, I believe that you would put your metabolism in a compromised state. Basically, it would slow down too much and you might put your body in starvation mode. Give your goals some time, they will come.
