Hey whats up everybody? Im 6'4, 290lbs with 35% BMI and im currently in the process of losing 40-50lbs. I've been going to the gym for the past 2 weeks going 5 days a week and its going pretty good i would say. I've been trying to eat healthy but i just dont know what to eat! I've been eating oatmeal, tuna, grilled chicken, and cottage cheese just about everyday. Is that too little or too much? If so, what should and should'nt i eat?

There is a great list in the nutrition forum - Grocery list for healthy eating or Grocery list for a bodybuilder (same list :)).
Try to eat 5-6 small meals a day - every 3 hours or so. Be sure each meal has protein, complex carbs (oats, yams, brown rice, etc.) vegetables (fiber) and a little good fat (olive oil, flax oil, avocado).
Don't create too large of a deficit from your diet - create a slight deficit from your diet and increase your energy expenditure so that you end up burning about 500 more calories than you are ingesting. So - for example - if you daily metabolic needs plus activity expenditure caloric needs was 2,300 calories you would eat 2,100 calories and be sure to burn an additional (unaccounted for in activity calorie needs) 300 calories through lifting/cardio.
Good luck and Welcome to freetrainers :)
