Hi. I just started the intermediate muscle mass gaining fitness plan. I was wondering, is there a set time I should wait in between sets?

Depending on your training goals, the accepted standards are:
1. Strength: 3-5 minutes
2. Power: 3-5 minutes
3. Hypertrophy: 30s - 1.5 minutes
4. Muscular Endurance: <30s
For numbers 1 and 2 in particular, it's not just about catching your breath or letting the lactic acid get cleared out, but it's also about letting your nervous system re-set, so to speak. With these two types of training, a great stress is put upon your neurological system, and it needs a chance, as well. But if 5 minutes sounds too long, think about this: both Strongman Bill Kazmier and the mighty Ed Coan were both known for taking 10-15 minutes in between sets of heavy squats...

I've recommended this in the past. Ask Pemdas about it.

Let your body be your guide. That is, rest depending on your goals as you deem necesary to advance the 'gains' you wish to realize as Michael posted. There is alot to be said for being 'intuitive'.
