David, I think that there is some misconception here. I think it has always been safe to eat eggs (the whole egg) as long as they have been cooked properly! Gone are the days where you could eat them raw. |

cholesterol my friend we have been taught anyone wanting to cut that out need to dray away. i know what you mean about the raw egg and the problems it caused . but here at workwe have been keeping it out of our patients diets . we have even cut out using it in our food prep. but as a sports nutritionist i see the protein in it and the bennifitts it has. some still frown at eating so many. hey , protein , amino acid and the cost.... |

the egg... what a wonderful invention; it is so versatile. i would do at least a dozen for my first meal every day. got to the point, though, where the yokes started murderin' my stomach. so now, i have to just stick to the whites. as far as those "health concerns" go: eggs are just like any other natural food - healthful and good for u in a balanced diet. i can think of alot of worse things i could eat! |

Gee...thanks for sharing that with us Dave! Anyway, sounds like everyone has their version of which part to eat (or not eat). There is the cholesterol factor, but that's if one eats the yolks all the time and in large quantities. Personally, I would eat 2 whole eggs and a few egg whites in a given day (but not everyday). |

like spanishgirl said we have always been told not to eat the whole egg . i tried egg beeters , frozen eggs and powder eggs, but always went back to the whole egg. |

I think that the whole is ok, but I myself can only eat so much yoke. I like the white best so I eat a lot of egg white. |

I think it all depends on how concerned you are about fat and cholesterol. I personally eat 3-4 egg whites scrambled with 1 whole egg every morning. This gives me a good amount of protein, the flavor and color from the yolk, and significantly lowers the amount of fat and cholesterol. As far as wasting yolks, if you put them in a dixie paper cup, scramble them slightly, then microwave them, you can dump them outside for your birds to eat. Simple, quick, and keeps birds from eating their children! |

I don't know what proteins to eat if I couldn't eat my eggs..... I buy the eggs at a special store delivering restaurants and I buy in big boxes containing 180 at time. This will last for around a week and a half....I must admit thou, that even often changing the recipe of how to cook them, I'm a little bit tired of eating all those eggs.... I only eat around one yolk daily (since I don't eat meat I actually NEED the cholestorol in the eggs..) |

Dietary cholesterol has very little to contribute to blood cholesterol. http://www.mercola.com/2000/nov/12/eggs.htm However, he states that eggs have a high risk of becomming allergenic if you eat them every day. Never known anybody that developed an allergy to eggs though, and some people I have asked said they have been eating them for years. (every day) |
