Is there a purse in bodybuilding comps? What are they like? I'm just curious if people can actually make a living at this or if it's just because you love it. ---------------------------- And my soul must be iron, because my fear is naked. I'm naked and fearless. |

Hehehe, I got that impression. Actually part of it too was what do people like Ernie Taylor and Chris Cormier do for a living?? I've read alot of pros say to keep a different job, but as discussed on this board that can be difficult. I'm sure most of them make their living through endorsements and personal appearances (not from competitions), just like any other high-profile athlete. Then, there's the rare movie or tv show that could pay off big bucks...-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

Go to www.ifbb.com, then choose Upcoming Events, then IFBB Professional Calendar. They actually list the prize money there.-------------- **_Robert_** Pain is temporary; glory is forever! |

The competitions will never make you rich BUT finding a good sponsor and do some advertising and other advents where YOU are the athlete (since you have won a nice title from the contest) THAT will help you earn some money. That's what I'm trying for the moment. Right now I'm getting free advertising for my gym but I would like to get a nice sponsor for me as well....... -------------- - Nina :o) La vie est toujours aussi belle..... |

Cain, there is NO $$$ in professional bodybuilding today. Perhaps if you are in the top 6 of the world.. then perhaps yes. but only $100-$200,000. Compared to other professional sports, this is peanuts. 90% of the ifbb pro's need other jobs to live. The show's don't pay much unless you win. The real money comes from appearances and seminars.. But then again, in this sport you get to travel all around the world, and train for a job! -------------- .o0 Arnold 0o...o0 theaustrianoak@hotmail.com 0o. |

That is really depressing. This is the second sport I've gotten into that had no real way of making a living. (Fencing being the first, not even endorsements in that) It's cool though, I do it because I love it. It would be nice to be able to make a living at it. Maybe that's why everyone becomes a personal trainer. -------------- And my soul must be iron, because my fear is naked. I'm naked and fearless. |

Have you noticed the money the winner recieves at a mrs or mr O? The guy goes home with a new HUMMER and a nice chunk of change where the female winner gets much less cash. This seems unfair to me. Ronnie Coleman use to be a COP prior and while training. I know these guys must make made cash from advertising...drink CELL TECH and get BIG like me...CutlerBQ -------------- AMERICAN MADE |

Yeah actually they do give some decent prize money for comps. You'd better hope you win though... -------------- And my soul must be iron, because my fear is naked. I'm naked and fearless. |

true.. but keep in mind that the Olympia is $100k or so.. but Dorian Yates was rumored to have spent close to 45k for the drugs and preparation for that show.. so unless you have close to perfect genetics so you may actually place top 3 for decent $$$.. don't count on the sport to allow you to live comfartably..-------------- .o0 Arnold 0o...o0 theaustrianoak@hotmail.com 0o. |

Do you think that most top builders use drugs? I mean is pretty much neccesary to take roids of some kind to even get that big? -------------- And my soul must be iron, because my fear is naked. I'm naked and fearless. |

I believe all pro body builders have used and are currently using anabolics daily to get so freaky. The human body cant grow that extreme without it. Also in todays BB world to move ahead you must, because the guy in front of you will use the juice. Therefore there is basicly no way you could beat him. Also these guys use anabolic steriods safely, to a certain extent. Check out http://www.anabolicinsider.com, sign up and get a free copy, it has a lot of CRAZY ads buts ome pretty good articles. Also if you go to www.anabolics.com and sign up for some free stuff you can get a free copy of the anabloice insider. All this is what I beleive, it might be wrong, but like anything in life we all beleive what we please. BQ -------------- AMERICAN MADE |

I just want to know. I'm not willing to take roids, so maybe it would have to be natural comps for me. -------------- And my soul must be iron, because my fear is naked. I'm naked and fearless. |

One needs to take a choice, but don't be blind, the drugs are everywhere. No, it's not only the big guys taking it, but also the nice looking fitness stars........ How do you think they keep staying that slim and with all that energy day after day?......It's everywhere. And they say that smoking in dangerous for you?!!!!!! -------------- - Nina :o) La vie est toujours aussi belle..... |

This topic kinda made a 180. I know some people that have juiced and made extreme gains. They lost about 60% of what they gained after they stopped though. I remmeber the 2 guys juicin always seemed to have ALOT of energy. They also said they felt unstopable. But I saw how their skin looked different and swollen, also bad acne. I dont know if its really worth it. Ohh well I could talk about more, But this is enough for now.Ohh yeah also in SI theres an article about this guy in MLB who juiced for years and now cant get lead into his pencil,(IF YA KNOW HAT I MEAN) let along other complications, I would suggest you read it, its pretty good!
