Hi my name is Beth and I am a brand new member! I've been trying to lose weight off and on for the past like 5 years but I always seem to lose motivation. I've gained more weight than ever before now that im in college...I went from 130 to 160 :( and now I'm determined to make a change before summer break. I always seem to lose motivation during the beginging stages of dieting because I dont see any results, and I just cant fight my temptations for bad inexpensive fast food. So (back on topic) I've been thinking about taking a weight loss pill..maybe hydroxicut?? not sure. Any info or advice..LET ME KNOW!!

The problem with diet pills is that a lot of people see them as the answer to their fitness problems. I don't necessarily condemn their use, but they should only be just a small cog in the greater fitness machine. Plus they may work great at first, but your body adapts rather rapidly to them, thus limiting the effectiveness in the long run.
You HAVE to fight those junk cravings. Either that or make some very serious dietary cuts during the day to make up for that high calorie food. A single meal from McDonalds can have like 1500 calories(or more) in it by the time you're done. That will not help the weight loss efforts. Plus just the sheer fat content alone is disturbing. The best way to lose weight is to figure out how many calories a day you need, and create a caloric deficit through diet and exercise. It'll take a deficit of 3500-4000 calories to burn a pound of fat. Average HEALTHY weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week.
The pills will have a better effect if you get a hold on your diet. Otherwise it'll just be a situation of losing weight, and gaining it right back when the pills no longer work for you. That is the primary reason that diet pills "don't work". Because many people that use them don't adjust their diets accordingly to the weight loss.

brown bagging would help you more - ifyou already have a lunch then why would need to go to McD's???
Since they took ephrine out of the pills - I haven't have any luck with them & if something does work then someone will abuse it so they will get rid of that too
better would be spend the money on a gym membership & build muscle. Yeah I know a pill is simpler to take but the hard workout is alot better for your body in the long run.

returnofplex, you could not have said it any better than that. You must discipline your self in order to get the results you want. Pills to me are a quick fix. And you never get to the root of the eating disorder by taking them. Deal with the issue of why I can't tame my temtations
