All depends what your goals are, but if you are looking to get lean forget the pasta before or after the workout. If not, eat at least2 hrs before if you are maintaining.

Pasta is an excellent food for post workout also if trying to gain mass. This meal is a good one to eat 'simple sugars' with your protein, and the best time probably if you are a normally 'clean eater'.

As a note if you use it pre workout, probably about 45 minutes max pre would be a good way to go. We are talking plain white pasta here.

If you buy Durum Whole Wheat you can eat it often as long as you keep your portion sizes right!

I like it as a side like Brown Rice and other carb sources.

I like it with a spaghetti sauce that is little to none in sugars, diced tomatoes and cottage cheese melted into it.

A side like that is great with a breast of chicken just great and some vegi's and woo hoo you have a nice meal.

It's a low GI pasta that is even slower then brown rice but it's less in fiber and other nutrients so this is why I like to mix my carb sources up and get a variety.
