Hello,
I'm new to this website so I'm sorry in advance for any fallacies/dumb remarks. Anyway, I'm 18, 5'11 and 163 lbs. My body fat is 11 or 12%. Ive been lifting rather intensely for the past 4 years (bench at 240lbs hang-clean at 250lbs etc) with sports almost all year around. But, now that sports are over I'm not getting as much of a cardiovascular workout. I was just wondering if it would be worth it to add endurance training of some sort to my workout for the best results. Also, if you could, please give reasons why cardiovascular workouts are necessary to continue getting stronger. Thanks for your help

Cardiovascular training is just that. It helps our heart (which is a muscle)to get stronger, providing larger volumes of blood per pump and not working as hard to acomplish the task.

So basically running wont help or hurt my strength training except in extreme scenarios?

Upping the intensity to severe levels will have an impact. It is difficult to say the least to train for 'two things at once' if you get my drift. Keeping cardiovascularly fit is one thing, which I preach while trying to gain, but too much intensity here can surely interfere with trying to gain. You will have to guage your levels, all of us are different. But suffice it to say, at the risk of repeating myself, they can be counterproductive with too much intensity.
